VANDINHO

Evandro Sandes Fontes is nicknamed Vandinho and lives in Alagoas on Iron Island. As a child, he found himself in craftsmanship inspired by his artisan grandfather. Self-taught, he says, "I learned from my mind." For over 30 years he has sculpted miniature sculptures of animals in the wild on different types of wood and delicate wooden mobiles. His simple look for the beauty of nature is perceived by the sweetness of his works.
